Spring is so nearly here, and the little snippets of warm weather, and sunnier days has made me excited for styling my spring wardrobe. Rather than rushing to my laptop and purchasing everything saved in my online wishlists, I’m making my current wardrobe work for the season ahead.
Here are a few things I’m doing to utilise what I have as we move into Spring.

1. Layer Your Lighter Pieces (The key to dressing during the transitional seasons)
Spring is unpredictable as both the transitional seasons are. Chilly mornings, sunny afternoons, random showers and sometimes a blast of cold weather – dressing for all of these eventualities is hard. The key is light, removable layers.
Layer a fine knit over a midi dress
Wear a white tee under a slip dress
Add a lightweight cardigan over a blouse
Throw a blazer over a simple T-shirt
Instead of heavy winter coats, swap in:
A trench coat
A denim jacket
A lightweight blazer
Wear lighter fabrics, softer colours, and layers you can take off or put on throughout the day.
2. Rework Your Winter Dresses for Spring
You don’t need new dresses for a slight change in temperature, you can restyle the ones you already own.
Try:
Removing tights and switching to bare legs or sheer socks
Swapping ankle boots for loafers or trainers
Adding a waist belt to create shape
Layering a tee underneath to make it feel more casual
A long-sleeve knit dress becomes spring-ready instantly with:
A cropped jacket
Lighter footwear
A brighter bag
It’s about styling, not replacing.

3. Switch Up Your Colour Palette
Spring dressing is often more about colour than clothing, and opting for the lighter coloured pieces you own is a way to make old outfits feel fresh.
Instead of buying new pieces:
Pair dark trousers with a pastel knit
Add a bright bag to neutral outfits
Wear white jeans instead of black
Mix soft tones like sage, baby blue or blush with your usual basics
Even something as simple as replacing a black jumper with a cream or soft grey one makes an outfit feel spring-ready.
4. Roll, Tuck & Adjust Proportions
Small styling tweaks completely change the mood of an outfit, and something I swear by is taking 2 minutes to look in the mirror and tweak your outfit to ‘style’ it rather than just wear it.
Roll blazer sleeves to show your wrists
Half-tuck shirts into jeans
Push up knit sleeves
Unbutton the top buttons of a shirt
Swap a full tuck for a French tuck
These tiny changes make outfits feel lighter and more relaxed, perfect for spring.
5. Rethink Footwear
Often, it’s the shoes that make an outfit feel wintery and changing up your footwear is the simplest way to change your look from cold winter, to warm spring.
Try:
Swapping knee-high boots for loafers
Trading heavy boots for white trainers
Wearing ballet flats with tailoring
Pairing midi skirts with trainers instead of tights and boots
The same outfit instantly feels spring-appropriate with lighter footwear.
All of these things are do-able with your current wardrobe, and the tweaks are simple and easy to do. Hopefully this inspires you to shop your own wardrobe and get ready for some much needed warm weather and longer days.
