Is White the New Timeless Way to Wear Denim?

Is White the New Timeless Way to Wear Denim?

Blue jeans will always have their place. They are dependable and easy, and honestly we reach for them without even thinking most days. But have white jeans are popping up everywhere lately, and have gradually become an iconic and timeless item in themselves.

They are no longer just a summer thing or a “special occasion” piece. They are becoming a real staple in people’s wardrobes, and I think spring is the perfect time to lean into them.

White jeans can feel a bit intimidating at first, and the idea of wearing something that can so easily stain or mark is definitely something that makes me consider this choice very carefully. However, once you find a pair that fits you and feels like you, they quickly become one of your most worn items.

Here are four different white denim styles that are perfect for spring.

The cropped pair

These are such a great introduction to white denim if you’ve never tried them before. The high waist makes them feel modern, and the cropped length means they are perfect for wearing with spring shoes. I love these with trainers, flats or even chunky sandals when the weather warms up.

They are relaxed without feeling too casual and look great with a tucked-in tee or a lightweight jumper. The wide leg keeps them from feeling too structured and gives them a really easy vibe.

The low rise pair

If you want something that feels effortlessly cool, the Topshop low rise relaxed jeans in bone are a great choice. Low rise jeans have been coming back for a while now and this relaxed shape just feels laid-back and comfortable. They are the sort of jeans you throw on with an oversized shirt or a simple crop top and sneakers and instantly feel put together, and the low rise feels very ‘model off duty’ to me.

The bone colour is slightly softer than pure white so they feel a bit more lived in and easy to wear right now. These are the jeans you’ll reach for when you want something casual but still stylish.

The barrel pair

Barrel jeans are one of my favourite denim shapes at the moment and the Only Tamy barrel jeans in ecru are great if you want something a bit different. They have a little more personality than a straight leg, but they are still really easy to style.

Pair them with a fitted tee or a simple knit and your favourite pair of trainers or sandals. The shape feels relaxed without being too baggy, and the ecru tone means they are a bit softer than stark white, which makes them super wearable for spring.

The button detailed pair

If you love detail, the ASOS Design straight leg jeans with this button detail down the front are such a good option. These have a classic straight leg silhouette but the buttons add a little something that makes them feel more interesting – I’m really loving buttons over zips on jeans lately.

These are the sort of jeans you can wear with everything. A simple tee and blazer. A cosy knit. A silk shirt for when you want to feel a bit more dressed up – a perfect all rounder for your wardrobe.

White jeans feel fresh, they lift outfits instantly and there are so many great shapes to try now. Spring is the perfect season to give them a go, especially as everything else in our wardrobes starts to feel a bit brighter.

If you’ve been sticking to blue denim on repeat, give white a go this season and see how it feels. You might be surprised how much you reach for them once you start.

White jeans are classic without feeling boring and they have a way of making even the simplest outfits look just that bit more thoughtful and in my opinion, that tiny bit more chic!
