Why Brown Is the Shade to Wear This Autumn

Why Brown Is the Shade to Wear This Autumn

When it comes to autumn fashion, brown is the colour that keeps coming back season after season. It’s rich, versatile, and softer than black, making it perfect for layering, mixing with neutrals, or even wearing head-to-toe for a chic monochrome look. Whether you lean towards warm caramel, deep chocolate, or muted mocha, there’s a brown out there to suit every wardrobe. This year, I’ve found myself gravitating more and more towards this timeless shade, and I’ve picked out a few pieces that I think are worth adding to your autumn line-up.

ASOS DESIGN Longline Car Coat in Chocolate

f you’re looking for the ultimate outerwear piece, this chocolate-toned car coat is it. Sleek, tailored, and easy to throw over just about anything, it’s the kind of coat that instantly elevates an outfit. Plus, it’s warm enough to see you through those chilly autumn mornings and well into winter.

& Other Stories Relaxed Short Sleeve T-Shirt in Brown

This one is a personal favourite. I already own this t-shirt in both black and white, and I’ve just added the brown version to my collection because I love it so much. The quality is amazing, it has that relaxed but put-together feel, and it’s one of those staple pieces you can wear on repeat. Pair it with jeans, tuck it into tailored trousers, or layer it under a blazer, it works every time.

ASOS DESIGN Denim Long Sleeve Tie Front in Brown

Layering is key for autumn, especially if (like me) you’re always cold, even in transitional weather. This tie-front cardigan in brown is a great piece to add into the mix. It works as a layering piece when you don’t quite need a coat, but also looks great layered under heavier outerwear later in the season.

Adidas Originals Samba OG Trainers in Brown Crochet and Cream

Brown trainers have been on my wishlist for over a year, and I finally took the plunge this autumn. The Samba OG in brown crochet and cream is such a fresh take on a classic trainer. They’re the perfect way to bring brown into your everyday wardrobe without feeling like you’re overcommitting, and they give a softer, more laid-back vibe compared to black trainers or boots.   Brown is having a real moment this season, and I couldn’t be happier about it. It’s warm, versatile, and just feels right for autumn. Whether you’re investing in a coat that will last you years, picking up an easy layering piece, or simply swapping out your sneakers, adding touches of brown into your wardrobe is such an easy way to update your style for the colder months.
