If there’s one thing I love about H&M, it’s how effortlessly they manage to blend timeless style with trend-forward pieces at a price point that’s quite affordable.
I’ve been scrolling their new-in section and curating a little wish-list of pieces that are perfect for the next couple of warm summer months. Think layering heroes, elevated basics, and versatile staples that’ll work hard in any wardrobe.
Here are the four items currently sitting in my H&M basket, and how I’ll be styling them.
1. Appliquéd Cropped Vest Top
This cute, cropped vest has the kind of subtle detailing I love – soft florals in neutral tones that add interest without overpowering. The shape is flattering and versatile, perfect for layering, or wearing on it’s own.
How I’d style it:
Pair it with high-waisted wide-leg jeans for that effortless off-duty vibe. Add chunky sandals or low-top trainers for a comfy daytime look. For cooler evenings, throw a leather blazer or denim jacket over the top to add a layer with added interest and texture.
2. Short-Sleeved Maxi Dress
H&M’s maxi dresses are always a win for me, and this one’s no exception. The short sleeves, loose silhouette, and waist detail makes it ideal for everyday wear, with a shape that flatters without clinging.
How I’d style it:
This is the kind of dress you can wear on its own with a pair of tan slides and gold jewellery for a casual lunch, or layer with a belt, cropped knit, and boots for a more transitional, autumn-ready feel. Add a leather jacket or oversized blazer to take it into the evening.
3. Capri Trousers
Capris are back and I’m so here for it. These slim-cut trousers are such a sleek alternative to shorts or full-length trousers, and they’re surprisingly easy to dress up or down.
How I’d style it:
Channel that retro 90’s energy by pairing them with a simple tucked-in tee or blouse and ballet flats. For a more modern twist, try them with a boxy oversized shirt, vest top, and pointed mules or minimalist trainers.
4. Dark Brown Trainers
Dark brown feels like the unexpected neutral of the season, carried over from our collective love of brown during the autumn and winter season, and these trainers offer a stylish alternative to the classic white sneaker. They’re perfect for grounding lighter summer looks or tying into a warmer, autumn palette towards the end of summer.
How I’d style it:
I’d wear these with everything from relaxed denim to tailored trousers. Try them with the appliquéd vest and a pair of linen trousers for a cool weekend look, or dress them up slightly with a leather coat and monochrome outfit to make the brown pop.
